Brighton is known for designing products with a message. Many of the items in the collection have a defining detail that gives them special meaning. Whether it is love notes engraved on a bracelet or a handbag adorned with a treasured photo, Brighton products help create lasting memories.
Brighton was launched in 1991 with a single collection of belts. Over the years, Brighton has become an accessory company with something for everyone. Handbags were added to the line in 1993, followed by small leather goods, watches, jewelry, home accessories, eyewear and most recently, luggage.
Today Brighton is the only major accessories line featuring products that coordinate from head to toe. A customer might choose a lipstick case that matches a wallet, jewelry that matches a pair of sunglasses, a handbag that matches her footwear, or an entire coordinating collection consisting of multiple accessories.
The company’s concern for its customers, consumers and employees extends far beyond Brighton Headquarters and the stores that carry Brighton. Jerry and Terri have a deep commitment to empowering families through supporting the health of women and generously support a variety of charities including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Soles 4 Souls (which provides shoes for people who are in need) and numerous charities that feed the hungry in and near the communities which Brighton serves.
This may not be a true fairytale, but it’s as close to one as real life gets. Once upon a time, in the late 1960s, there were two high-school sweethearts living in the San Gabriel Valley east of Los Angeles – Jerry Kohl and Terri Kravitz (who is now Terri Kohl). They met, fell in love and started their own specialty store while they were still in high school. Each day when class ended, they opened their store selling T-shirts and leather goods to their classmates. After graduating in 1969, they operated their store full-time.
